- This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.
- If you join the launch list, we keep your e-mail address to send you one launch e-mail, and nothing else. You confirm the address first, and every e-mail has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Our plug-ins never collect audio, project names, your DAW, settings, usage statistics or crash reports.
- We never see card numbers. Payments are handled by our reseller, Paddle.
Who we are
DOWNSCENE LLC, 212 N. 2nd St., Ste 100, Richmond, KY 40475, USA. E-mail support@downscene.com. We are responsible for the personal data described here.
This website
The site is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising or social-media trackers, and no fonts or scripts from other companies. Like every web server, ours and our network provider's record technical request data (IP address, page requested, browser type, time) to keep the service running and to defend it against abuse. These logs are kept for at most 90 days.
The launch e-mail list
If you enter your e-mail address, we send you a message asking you to confirm it. Only after you confirm do we add you to the list, and we then send you one e-mail when our first plug-in launches, including the launch offer. We record when you joined, when you confirmed, and which form you used. Unconfirmed addresses are deleted after 7 days. When you unsubscribe, we delete your address and keep only a one-way fingerprint of it, so that we never e-mail you again by mistake. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Our plug-ins
Nothing is sent unless you act (activate, start a trial, deactivate, check for updates, or open a link), plus, once you have opened the plug-in window, a licence check about once a week and an update check at most once a day. You can switch the update check off. If our server cannot be reached, the plug-in keeps working.
What is sent: the product name and version, your operating system name and version, and a one-way "machine code" derived from a hardware identifier (the identifier itself never leaves your computer). Only for the action concerned: your licence key, your e-mail address (trials), a computer name you can edit, and the code you typed.
What we keep and why
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch list: e-mail, dates, source | One launch e-mail | Consent | Until you unsubscribe or 30 days after launch |
| E-mail address, name if you give one | Licence keys, trial codes and a reminder before a trial ends, receipts, support, your account page | Contract | While you hold a licence, then as tax law requires |
| Licences and activations (machine code, computer name, plug-in version, operating system, last seen) | Issue and check licences, the three-computer limit | Contract, legitimate interest (preventing abuse) | While you hold a licence, then 90 days |
| Trial records (machine code, e-mail, dates) | One trial per computer and e-mail address | Legitimate interest | 3 years |
| Purchase records from Paddle (order, amount, country, tax) | Invoices, refunds, tax law | Contract, legal obligation | As tax law requires |
| Server and e-mail delivery logs | Security, abuse prevention, making sure e-mails arrive | Legitimate interest | 90 days |
Who helps us
Paddle (payments, invoices and sales tax, as merchant of record), SMTP2GO (sending e-mail), Cloudflare (DNS, secure connections, protection against attacks), ScalaHosting (our server) and Rumble Cloud (storage for installers). Each processes data only on our instructions. Some are located in the United States.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, its correction or deletion, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Customers can export or delete their data on their account page; anyone can write to support@downscene.com. You may also complain to your data protection authority. Deleting customer data ends the licences tied to it.
